Frequently Asked Questions
Is the program free?
Yes! Reckon With’s program is free to participants. You are invited to contribute financially to our work at the end of each 3-month cycle if you are able to and find the experience valuable.
How many people are in a reckoning group?
The Reckon With program is designed for 3-person groups. This number lets people connect deeply with their peers throughout the reckoning journey for ongoing support. It also lets each participant get personalized help and attention at every meeting – to be effective, reckoning needs to be specific to our ongoing lives.
Can I make my own group?
Absolutely! Many participants find their groupmates among family, friends, and other affinity groups (like parents at the same school, fellow workshop participants, people who organize together, etc.).
If you only have 2 people ready to Reckon With, we will find the third person to complete your group. We can also match you with 2 other people if you’re joining us by yourself!
How do I join a group?
When you sign up, you’ll complete a survey about your preferences, communication style, and life experiences. We use this information to connect you with other participants who have similar preferences and experiences – this is what makes it a peer group, so that your reckoning practice begins on shared footing.
Will someone lead our meetings?
All meetings are self-led through our participant platform using the materials we provide. There is no facilitator. You and your groupmates will take turns being the person who reads the prompts/guides the meeting and the person who keeps time.
Once per cycle, a coach will join your meeting to engage with your reckoning journey and provide personalized feedback.
Where do we meet?
You can host your meetings in whatever way works best for your group. Some people are able to meet in person; some hop on a phone call or FaceTime; some schedule a Zoom meeting. For the sessions when a coach joins you, we’ll provide a Zoom link.
When does the program start?
It’s up to you! You can begin meeting with your group as soon as you are matched or get organized with the group you already have. We will send you a welcome package, and you’re good to go once everyone in your group has received theirs.
When and for how long do we meet?
The program is designed to support 90-minute meetings every other week.
You decide specific meeting times within your group! We will also ask about this preference in your sign-up survey and take it into account when matching groups.
How long does the program last?
Your initial commitment is for one 3-month cycle. At the end of this cycle, you will decide with your group whether you want to continue on to another 3-month cycle. The intent is to support the lifelong work of reckoning.
